Solutions Identified: for the issues of swachh bharat

1. All Swachh Bharat related products (toilet pans, dustbins, cleaning equipment, tanks,

etc.) where there is a supply-demand mismatch should be exempt from duties 100%
so they can be imported from foreign countries.

2. More outcome based interaction should be organized between Swachh Bharat
Mission and the associated manufacturing industry.

3. The on-ground implementation capacity of the Central Government should be
increased in proportion to the planning done

4. India should tie up with other countries who have been champions at recycling and
waste management.

5. A line of experts should be developed who could help in implementation of Swachh
Bharat initiatives across the country.

6. Training programs should be organized for civic bodies to pass on the required skills to make SBM successful.

7. Supply Chain Planning at the SKU level should be introduced at the mission level keeping in mind the requirements of the urban local bodies/mission objectives.

8. Based on the forecast and objectives, Swachh Bharat Mission must collaborate with manufacturers and urban local bodies to develop a supply chain plan at SKU level.

9. The actual procurement by urban local bodies for Swachh Bharat related products / services must take place through a centralized system where Swachh Bharat Mission has full visibility into delays and execution.

10. Regular feedback mechanism should be established to understand and refine the gap between supply chain plan and actual deliveries taken.

11. The tendering process should be completely automated.

12. Human interaction in the tendering process should be minimized.

13. Processes should be set for daily activities by the local civic bodies for effective implementation of SBM.

14. Responsibility for Outcomes should be clearly defined and the Ward Officer or Gram Panchayat Head, are best suited for this at the operating level.

15. PPP concept should be developed for cleaning the city with self-sustaining revenue model.

16. Cues should be taken from other developed countries to understand how they manage it so well.

17. A local advisory committee should be created in each district to plan how the process is to be operated.

Ganesh Maratha – Creator of State Sanitation logo

Talent never hide and this happened with a little boy of a remote village.  When honourable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Mr. Harish Rawat lifted Ganesh Maratha in front of large crowed to felicitate and award him first prize for the logo competition, this little boy was calm, cool and shocked.

Ganesh born and brought up in Kishanpur village of district Uttarkashi. He is youngest in the family. Though, family has 5 members but economic status is very poor. His father Dharam Sing is unemployed and mother Lakshmi Devi is simply house lady. The family is mainly dependent on agriculture and livestock for their livelihood. Ganesh studied in class 8th of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kishanpur.

School teachers told that Ganesh is an average student in study but he is fond of arts and sports. The logo and concept was his brain child. We simply organised various competitions in our school and entries submitted to Swajal office. We were not in a thought that our student can compete at state level. Today we all teachers feel proud of Ganesh. Now he is celebrity not for our school, nearby villages but for all state, teachers reacted. Ganesh has given hope to millions of students residing and studying in remote villages having very poor family background and non enabling environment.

Today, Ganesh’s created butter fly logo is a brand of Uttarakhand state for sanitation campaign. This logo is used in all communication tools and publicity materials like print, electronic and new media.
